Frequently Asked Questions

What information is stored on my computer?

Your computer tracks all activities you do while working on the computer or surfing the Internet. The history of your activities is stored on your PC to make your experience more "user friendly". For example, when you type a URL in the address bar, your browser records this information in the Windows Registry. Or when you enter text in a search engine (Google, Yahoo, MSN), your browser will store details about what exactly you searched for. Any data you typed into web forms is also being kept on your hard drive. And that's not all! The hidden INDEX.DAT file keeps a record of all the sites you visited (which cannot be deleted if you try to clear your history manually). Not to mention the history of most recently opened files, recent documents history, programs you have started, etc. -- all this is being recorded.

This poses a serious security risk as anyone with relatively basic computer knowledge can access your personal data. Whether you're chatting on MSN, entering your passwords, or downloading adult images -- someone can easily get their hands on this information in a matter of seconds without you knowing!

We don't think that's right. You have a right to maintain your privacy.

Can I just delete my history manually?

You can clear your history manually and empty the Recycle Bin. But it will NOT protect your privacy.

Your computer stores information virtually everywhere. From Windows Registry to temporary Internet files to hidden databases to hidden Index.dat file (which can only be cleared using special software).

Besides, when you delete your history files manually, there is a good chance they can still be recovered because Windows does not really remove the file - it only removes a reference to the file and it might be possible to recover it.

Most cleaning applications only delete basic information such as your browser history, while ignoring hidden files and dozens of other applications such as Office that store incriminating evidence. EraseMaster deletes everything with just a single click of a button! With EraseMaster, you can rest assured that ALL traces of your computer and Internet activities are permanently deleted from your hard drive.

What does EraseMaster do?

With simply one click, EraseMaster allows you to delete Internet history, delete cookies history, delete typed URLs history, delete google history, delete address bar history, delete index.dat files, and Windows search history, recent documents, temp files, run history, etc. EraseMaster completely cleans your history, ensuring your computer and Internet use cannot be revealed by anyone. It will also delete full user history from dozens of popular applications such as Google Toolbar, Media Player, MSN Toolbar, Office XP, Office 2003, Office 2007, WinAMP, WinRAR, WinZip -- and MORE!

Our Internet Eraser fully supports Internet Explorer and FireFox. Unlike other applications that only delete Internet and Windows history, EraseMaster deletes history for all the above applications. Will it work on my computer?

Almost certainly yes! EraseMaster supports Windows 98, ME, NT, 2000, 2003, XP, Vista, 7 and works on any 32-bit Windows computer.

Can I customize EraseMaster?

Absolutely! You can customize EraseMaster to work just the way you'd like. From the Clean-up Tasks screen, you can specify exactly what you want the program to delete. You can tell it which cookies you wish to keep, and which files you wish to ignore. Using the Plug-Ins tab, you can select which third-party programs you want to erase the history from, such as Word or the Google toolbar.

You can further personalize EraseMaster using its advanced options. From the Preferences screen, you can choose to launch EraseMaster automatically with Windows. You can also set it up so it runs in stealth mode, meaning it will be minimized to the system tray area (where the system time is shown). And what's more is that you can schedule the program to run at a regular time interval. All using a simple, intuitive interface.

What if I don't want to delete certain cookies, web addresses etc.?

We have designed EraseMaster so it is fully customizable! If there are certain cookies or web addresses that you don't want to delete, simply add them to the "Safe List". They will be skipped every time you run EraseMaster to clean your machine. In addition, you can further customize EraseMaster to keep certain histories. For example, if you want to keep your Windows "Recent Documents" history or search history, you can simply uncheck these options from the Cleanup Tasks screen. Then whenever you run the program, they will not be deleted.

Other than my browser history, what else does EraseMaster clean?

Did you know that many third party software keep a history of recent user activities? Others can see what documents you have recently opened, what images you have accessed, what media you have played, and much more. It is highly recommended to remove these histories to further protect your privacy. With EraseMaster plug-ins, you can easily delete the histories of many popular applications. You can customize EraseMaster to remove the full history of Windows Media Player, WinZip, WinRAR, WinAMP, Office XP, Office 2003, Office 2007, Google Toolbar, MSN Toolbar -- and much more!
